ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Over the years, there have been a shortage of highly qualified staff in the institutions of preschool education in the western regions of Ukraine.
The initiator of the creation of a separate department, which would prepare specialists for preschool education institutions in the Carpathian region, became a doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor, academician, full member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine (at that time the dean of the pedagogical faculty of the Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute named after V. Stefanyk) with a light memory of Myroslav Stelmakhovych, who invited to Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute named after V. Stefanyk the Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Docent of the Department of Pedagogics and Psychology (Preschool) Nelly Lysenko from Rivne State Pedagogical Institute with a proposal to create and head the Department of theory and methodology of preschool education within the Pedagogical Institute managed by him. The first set of students in the specialty “Preschool education” was held in 1990. In the territory of Western Ukraine Ivano-Frankivsk Pedagogical Institute became the second higher educational institution for the training of specialists of the definite profile.
